15 of 35 Exodus – Story of Adam to Jesus

With strength and determination …

… Moses … went to Pharaoh and said, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Let my people go, …” Pharaoh answered, “Who is the LORD, that I should heed his plea…?” Exo 5:1-2

Pharaoh learned who the Lord is the hard way.

God sent the 10 plagues. You can read all about them in Exodus. God speaks to us as gently as He can, but as loudly as He has to. The first nine plagues did not convince Pharaoh, so …

Moses called (together) all the elders of Israel and said to them … sprinkle [your front doors] with … blood. … For the LORD will go by, striking down the Egyptians. Seeing the blood on [your doors], the LORD will pass over [your doors] and not let the destroyer come into your houses to strike you down. Exo 12:21-23

By faith [Moses] kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, that the Destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them. Hebrews 11:28

At midnight the LORD slew every first-born [Egyptian] … Exo 12:29

… Pharaoh summoned Moses … and said, “Leave my people at once, …. Exo 12:31

… the Israelites marched out of Egypt. Exo 13:18

The LORD preceded them, in the daytime by means of a column of cloud to show them the way, and at night by means of a column of fire to give them light. Exo 13:21

Then …

Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds ….

The Israelites were caught between the Egyptian army and the sea.

The situation looked hopeless.

And [the Israelites] complained to Moses, … better for us to be the slaves of the Egyptians than to die in the desert.” Exo 14:11-12

But Moses answered the people, “Fear not! …The LORD himself will fight for you; you have only to keep still.” Exo 14:13-14

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and …the Israelites marched into the midst of the sea on dry land … Exo 14:21

The Egyptians followed in pursuit; … right into the midst of the sea. Exo 14:23

So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and … the sea flowed back to its normal depth. Exo 14:27

Not a single one of [the Egyptians] escaped. Exo 14:28

By faith [the Israelites] crossed the Red Sea as if it were dry land, but when the Egyptians attempted it [the Egyptians] were drowned. Hebrews 11:29

When Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the seashore and beheld the great power that the LORD had shown against the Egyptians, they … believed in [the Lord] and in his servant Moses. Exo 14:30-31

… God (had) formed Israel as his people by freeing them from slavery in Egypt. #62

God still had a lot of work to do with the Israelites before they would be ready for the coming of Jesus, but God finally had a people on this earth that believed in Him and recognized His power.

God was close to being able to give us human beings His great gift of the Law, so that we would know how to live together morally, happily.
